Where does the time go? It seems like just a week or so ago since I started the blog and already two months has passed by. So much has happened in the past two months and as much as I wish I had shared as it was happening, I cannot live in regret so I will just write from memory and move forward.
We had family pictures taken by Jowi with JMitchell Photography in October 2010. Jowi does such a great job. The kids were not overly thrilled to be taking family photos and despite their lack of desire Jowi managed to get some great photos. I have a posted several for you to see. I think we make a pretty good looking family! We are so thankful to be blessed with our kids and thank God for giving them to us.
Shad had a birthday on November 23rd. He turned the big 3-9 this year and stll looks as good as ever. The girls and I made him a cake and we had a birthday dinner for him that we made.
We traveled to Garden City, KS for Thanksgiving to "Mam's" house. (Mam's name is Gayle and she is Shad's mom) We went out on Wednesday night and stayed through Saturday. It was great to see Mam, Papa (Papa's name is Dennis and he is Shad's dad), Aunt Staci, Colt and Jordyn. We had fun watching all the kids play (our kids with their cousin Colt). The kids loved being outside at Mam's house and exploring the barn and watching the animals. We attempted to watch some of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade Thanksgiving morning before lunch. This is something my dad and I always did when we I was a kid so I still love to have it on and watch as much as I can. We had a nice Thanksgiving dinner that Mam cooked for us. I tried to make Lambert's pineapple walnut salad. It tasted similar but I need to tweak it a little more I think. Steele was cutting his first tooth that day... we thought that was fitting that he was cutting his tooth on Thanksgiving day. He is also clearly saying "Mama". That was officially his first word. As you can imagine, I am one proud mom. He is so fun to watch. He loves to do this crawl/hop thing. He looks like a little rabbit so we have started to call him "hopper". I also love to call him "my little man" and "my buddy". He is such a fun little guy that loves to snuggle so you can imagine how much we all love that! We had a nice relaxing afternoon... visiting and looking through the sales ads preparing for shopping later in the evening.
The kids took a bath together in Mam's tub and had some fun...
We got back to Gayle's house in time for a nap and some late breakfast. Relaxed most of the morning and I started to have a sharp pain in my side... it was uncomfortable to say the least. Laying down, sitting up, breathing and coughing all seemed to make it hurt. I kept thinking to myself it would subside and if not I would be going to the doctor when I got home. Anyway, we drove into Satanta to pick up Jordyn from her friend Kristy's house. We ate a late lunch at the Pizza Shack. Macy ate better than usual... eating one piece of pizza after the other. Steele tried the crust and liked it okay and Kaylee ate a salad and a little bit of the pizza. All in all, the kids did great. We stopped by Rachel and Matt Lee's to visit before leaving town. We got to tour their relatively new home. It is beautiful... the layout is amazing and Rachel has it decorated really nicely. You feel like you are home when you are there. Rachel had a inspirational quote on her wall that I want to put on mine (as soon as I can figure out how to do it)... the quote said: "Live in such a way that those who know you but don't know God will come to know God because they know you...." This really resonated with me. While we were there, we got to meet some of their extended family and had a great visit.
We headed back to Garden City and stopped off to pick up some groceries. When we got back to Mam's house, Papa cooked burgers on the grill and we had a nice dinner together. I still have some pain that doesn't seem to go away... ready to find out what is wrong with me. The next morning we visited for a little while, packed up our things and headed back to Kansas City. We got home and unpacked and just rested from the long weekend.
Sunday... up early for church. Shad and I helped in the Reef at WFC for the 8:30 am service and then went to church at 10:00 am. We all got home from church and I headed to Urgent Care. The doctor there looked me over and suggested I go to the ER. I went home and had Shad drive me. After a couple of hours at the ER and some x-rays, I found out that I had pneumonia... no fun but at least I know and can get on some medication.
The rest of the week resting as much as I can and getting ready for the holidays.... Keri R. helped me by watching the girls part of a day (thanks so much Keri). Kaylee also got to play at Alexis' house another day which really gave me some much needed time to rest. We started planning and preparing for our Christmas holiday celebration dinner with our small group that we hosted on Sunday, December 12th. More blogging soon.... Amanda
